Prayer

At HillCity Church we believe that the prayer of faith is what moves the “BIG HAND” that moves the world. The lifeline of our church is fervent, passionate and relentless prayer. We always strive to live and do church in such a way that if God does not show up, we will look worse than fools.

Our Church is laid on the foundation of prayer. We hold regular prayer meetings, and fasting and prayer form an important part of our church calendar.

At the end of each year, we go into a ‘season’ of fasting and prayer to set the tone for the incoming year.

We also love to pray for people. You can send us your prayer request(s). We know God answers prayer. Expect God to step into the situation as you share your prayer request(s) with us. You may also wish to share your Praise report  / Testimony.

CORPORATE FASTING & PRAYERS

Date: Monday 6th January – Sunday 12th January 2025

A biblical definition of fasting is a Christian’s voluntary abstinence from food for spiritual purposes. Fasting is a spiritual discipline and one that goes so radically against the flesh and the mainstream of our culture. Fasting is a purifying discipline that helps us draw closer to Jesus and surrender our will to his ways. Without a spiritual purpose for your fast it’s just a diet. There is something about fasting that sharpens the edge of our intercessions and gives passion to our supplications.

When we separate ourselves from the daily routine of food and its preparation, eating, or whatever desired activity (TV, social media, games etc.) in our lives, then we can devote the extra time to prayer and reading/studying/meditating on God’s word.

The result of sincere fasting and praying is that God responds and brings His grace and blessings. Also, our strength becomes renewed, and our focus gets sharper.

This is our first corporate call in the new year to fast and pray. It is an opportunity to commit it into God’s hands and set the tone for 2025.

2025 Theme Scripture

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

– 2 Corinthians 3:18
